Chag Shavuos (5766)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

Shavuos is the Rosh Hashana for the receiving of the Torah.  It is the time we receive the Divine allotment for our portion in the Torah.  We must petition to Hashem for absolute success in our study, satisfaction, absolute fulfillment and the Divine granting of all our surrounding needs and physical necessities to facilitate our limud haTorah.

Any vacuum of time not preoccupied with the focus on the above, should be spent with actual learning so as not to exhibit any lack of awe and absolute appreciation of the Torah itself on Shavuos.

We shall surely bring the ultimate of blessings for ourselves and Clal Yisroel for all our needs in gashmius and ruchanius.

Have a wonderful Yom Tov and Shabbos.

Shvii Shel Pesach (5766)
By Mordechai Dolinsky

We approach the last lap or climax of our Yom Tov of Pesach, which is really a Divinely planned supercharged week of inspiration and reinstatement of our belief in Hashem’s kingship; His absolute control over the world.  The ultimate enlightenment and Hashem’s most open demonstration to His Creation was shown through the suspenseful episode of kriyas Yam Suf.

Every fraction of a second is rich with spiritual nourishment.  Make use of this magnificent treasure that is with us only now, and reap from it rewards forever.

Chag Sameach.

Parshas Mikaitz (5766) Chanukah Rosh Chodesh

Parshas Mikaitz (5766) Chanukah Rosh Chodesh
By Mordechai Dolinsky

The commitment and mesiras nefesh to fulfill Hashem’s Will brings joy and happiness to our lives.  Yosef Hatzaddik earned this through his mammoth efforts of self-control and in turn received great blessings for everything including the wisdom of the interpretation of Pharoh’s dreams.  The Chashmonaim fought the Yevanim who attempted to oppose all the above and isolate the happiness of life and relate to it as an isolated concept (manifested in the form of their theatres etc.).

Have a wonderful Shabbos, a joyous Chanukah and a blessed month.

Shavuos (5765)

It is very appropriate for us to contemplate what exactly the service expected of us on Shavuos is; with the absence of any specific Mitzvos.  I would venture to say it is the focus on the belief that the written Torah and the oral tradition we have is the true expression of Hashem who is our lifesource, responsible for our heartbeat and our very breath, every moment.
Together with the true appreciation and great evaluation for the epitome of meaningfulness and happiness that the Torah gives us in our lives.  Have a wonderful, meaningful Yom Tov.

Parshas Acharai – Shabbos HaGadol – Erev Pesach (5765)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

The sons of Aharon were punished for something for which the commandment was not yet given.  It was because they understood themselves that it shouldn’t have been done.  We are held responsible for all we comprehend on our own which is right or wrong.

This is perhaps the most important Shabbos of the year.  We receive spiritual gifts of understanding (hashpaos) for Pesach since it occurs in this week, which is the foundation of everything.  Perhaps this is the reason it is called Shabbos HaGadol.

Use every moment of Pesach for the purpose that it was given which is to grow and be inspired in Emuna.

Chag Kasher V’Sameach and have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Tzav – Purim (5765)
By Mordechai Dolinsky

The Medrash in our parsha 9-7 calls out that only the korban todah is forever.  This proclaims the supremacy of gratitude.  The miracle of Purim came about through the gratitude that even Achashverosh had to Mordechai.  I hope that we get the point.

A frelichen Purim wherever you are and a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas MiKaitz — Shabbos Chanukah (5765)

Imagine the anguish Yosef went through being falsely accused and subsequently imprisoned for something that he demonstrated and exercised the epitome of self-control not to indulge in and sin.  Now, as a ruler,  he was basking in the success that the false accusations caused and created.  What a lesson!

Our fulfillment of the Torah and mitzvos ignite a light within and outside our homes which usually we cannot see.  Perhaps with the mitzvah of the Chanukah lights we are taking a glimpse at this light.

Have a beautiful Shabbos and a happy Chanukah.
