Parshas Korach (5771)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

Moshe Rabeinu attempted to involve Korach to deal with Hashem and kochos of kedusha in his machlokes to spark and shock him into reality of emes. It didn’t work.

How much we must fear for ourselves, even being spiritually orientated, that we can be mistake and we must cry to Hashem to lead us and open up our minds t the truth.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The Torah demands of us that we constantly be connected to and under the realization of Hashem.

The land of Canaan had certain negative aspects which the spies connected to however when connected with Hashem everything changes; everything is clear; everything is safe; everything is beautiful.

The climax of the sedra is the mitzvah of tzitzis. The tzitzis is on our clothing, very close, very real. The four corners, kanfos, Rashi informs us are to inspire us to appreciate and be inspired about the wings of the eagles, the kanfei nesharim on which we flew. On our materialistic clothing we are inspired for the deepest connection with the world of ruchnius and Hashem. This is what is demanded of us to be simple members of Klal Yisroel.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The mitzvah of tefias shofar, the most important mitzvah on the most important day, Rosh Hashana, we learn from the movement of Klal Yisroel in the desert.

Movement is an awesome connection with Hashem. As we move, there are new experiences and new exposures with which we constantly have to relate and connect with Hashem.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Shavuos (5771)

Shavuos (5771)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

Chag Shavuos, zman matan Toraseinu, is the “Rosh Hashana” for Torah. On this day we must clearly make our commitment to fulfill our specific, individual Torah obligations.

We should use this day to ask of Hashem to have success in our learning, He should lead us to the ideal circumstance that is necessary for our learning, ideal teachers, subject matter approach and learning partners, together with all that is necessary to give us peace of mind.

Matan Torah is a historical fact of reality. Since Hashem presented all of Klal Yisroel with true prophecy, the torah therefore instructs us Bamibar 25:19) not to forget the day we stood before hashem at har sinai and pass it on to our posterity.

have a simchadike, meaningful yom tov.

Parshas Bamidbar (5771)

Rashi at the beginning of the sedra relates that Hashem, because of His love for Klal Yisroel, counts us. This is to explains the pasuk that Moshe was commanded to count. There is an obvious very deep lesson here for those that are searching. Hashem is counting and Moshe Rabeinu is counting, and it is considered as one.

As the galus darkens, standards drop in all areas of avodas Hashem. There is great freedom to do as one pleases in tznius of dress and in many other areas. There is a marvelous opportunity for those who want to be zocheh to be loyal, committed and consistent to the real ratzon Hashem.

We should be zocheh to see the geula sh’layma with the coming of Mashiach b’karov. Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Bechukosai (5771)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

How can we understand that in the beginning of our parsha (26:1) we find the great reward for being engrossed in intensive studying of Torah; amailus, which is incumbent on Klal Yisroel at every level. One that defaults and neglects to fulfill his obligation just forfeits his awesome reward. Later in pasuk 14 we find that this neglect leads to a downfall and spiritual avalanche ending in a terrible punishment.

Rashi, we can say, is sensitive to this difficulty by explaining that the lack of Torah study in pasuk 14 is accompanied by an open rebellion against Hashem.

The lowest level of the “fall” is denial of the truth of the Torah and eventually not even recognizing the existence of Hashem chas v’shalom. What is mind-boggling is that all through his spiritual downfall which includes preventing others from doing mitzvos and hatred for chachamim, he still maintains his belief of Hashem and the Torah until the last step, when this also goes.

How shocking that one can be committed to our basic beliefs and yet can fall so low. How absolutely vital it is for us to cry out to Hashem for Divine assistance for success in understanding and fulfilling our true purpose.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The yovail calls for the blowing of the shofar which is unique for Rosh Hashana. This calls out that the yovail is intrinsically connected with Malchus Shomayim. Many other areas of our avoda are likewise especially connected. Hashem should enlighten us to truly fulfill His Will.

Have an especially wonderful Shabbos.

In our sedra we have the parsha (23:23) of Rosh Hashana, mainly in one pasuk.  The most important day in our calendar, the time of the carnation of the Melech Olam, our commitment to the Kingdom of Hashem; the truth is indeed hidden.

We are living in a time externally speaking it seems to be a time of relative peace and plenty.   However, under the surface there is a need for tremendous rachmei Shomayim.  We should all be mispalel and work on improving all our deeds for zechusim and we should see the true redemption bikarov.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Kedoshim (5771)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

The ideal of kedusha is beautiful and inspiring but how do we reach this? Rashi share the secret at the beginning of the parshas — havei perushim min haarayos. We are living in an era of difficult tests in the are of arayos, with the morals in our environment in general at an all-time low and including our own strong Torah circles. This includes the lack of tznius in dress and even more so, the manner of behavior. The flip side of all this is the wonderful, grand opportunity for experiencing the great treasure of kedusha. Those of us that practice this appreciate and cherish this kedusha. Those of us that haven’t yet – taamu u’reu ki tov Hashem; allow yourselves the awesome pleasure and joys of connecting with Hashem, your Creator.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a good Chodesh.
