Metzora (14:34) Rashi explains that the real function of the negas habayis was to reveal treasures that the Canaanim hid in the walls. Amazing, that davka during the 40 years of wandering in the desert this phenomenon of the hiding of the gold took place.

The avoda and the mesiras nefesh of Klal Yisroel was actually creating and causing what was necessary for the consequence of the Emorim placing the gold. We are always creating wonderful consequences with our avoda which we should be zocheh to see.

PARSHAS SHMINI

(11:2) The lesson that Chazal that Rashi quotes of the physical damage that maacholos asuros cause is a very real secret that our Chazal have. The manifestation of this is the effect that it has on our mental capacities and attitudes. This should be for us a soruce of tremendous inspiration to be wary and careful to refrain from any type of maacholos asuros.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Metzora (5768)
By Mordechai Dolinsky

The names of the parshas have definite significance. Metzora deals with the “upshot” the purification.

Plag HaMincha is pure daylight according the R’ Yehuda—let he labels it the night. Alos HaShachar is labeled day, yet it is the extreme darkness of the night. It all depends on the direction of the destination (Rav Hutner zt”l). Plag Hamincha is pure light but is headed for darkness; the contrast is Alos Hashachar, so dark, but its destination is the day.

An extremely deep and significant message—the greatest importance isn’t where you are but rather your goal and destination. You are in the metzora mode but you are headed for purification, redemption. Let’s inspire ourselves and motivate ourselves in this darkness for the ultimate of closeness to Hashem.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and start preparing for Pesach by studying the Hagadda and Hilchos Pesach.

Chag HaPesach is our greatest source of spiritual nourishment for the year.  To derive the necessary benefit we must use this last week to prepare by studying the halachos and the medrashim about yetzias mitzrayim.

Parshas Metzora is very appropo since Moshe Rabeinu proclaimed “Ochain Nodah Hadovor”—the terrible affliction of the Egyptians upon us was attributed to the sin of Loshon Horah.  Likewise the Chazal enlightened us to the fact that the main cause of tzoraas is a result of loshon horah; lowering the esteem and causing any harm, physical or mental, or monetary loss to our fellow man.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.
