The parsha has a tremendous lesson. (6:2) Rashi– the placement of nazir following sotah tells us that having experienced the witnessing of a sotah incidence calls for keeping away from a drink that breaks down our guards against chastity.

The principle being having witnessed breakdown in any are is a sign for us to practice extra precautions. The lowness of our generation takes on for us a new awareness and an extra inspiration for caution.

Have a wonderful, inspiring Shabbos.

In our parsha (5:15) we find the laws concerning a person suspecting his wife of wayward actions and the procedure of the appropriate korban. What does this issue have to do with the bringing of the korban? A korban always creates a special closeness to Hashem, and this unique closeness brings with it a clarification of the truth.

Klal Yisroel is and always was the recipient of Divine revelation of various truths which comes about and is accomplished by our closeness and clinging to Hashem. This is the secret and foundation of the gift of our receiving the Torah.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

If we have the sensitivity, we can witness daily the fantastic experience of hashgacha pratis that demonstrates openly and clearly that Hashem is with us and His love for us. This is a magnificent manifestation of the Chazal that Rashi quotes in our parsha on the birkas Kohanim (6:24) on the pasuk “yair Hashem panav elecha”—Hashem will show you a radiant and smiling countenance.

Bakshu Panav Tamid—search for Him and you will surely find Him.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a meaningful Kabolas HaTorah.

Hashem left it up to us to label and designate Chag Shavuos for the celebration of the giving of the Torah. Hashem expects us to appreciate and evaluate the gift of the Torah. As the history of mankind progresses, appreciating and valuing the Torah as the essential of our lives increases.

The whole value system of human relationships which civilization once adhered to has completely crumbled including marriage, and parent-child relationships and above all, the accepted outlook in the civilized world today of how the world came about. It is essential to understand that it is not only that we believe in Hashem and know the truth of His being the Creator, and that they are mistaken, but the alternative that they accept is completely ridiculous and absurd. This crooked and twisted way of thinking infiltrates and destroys their brain and thought process and sabotages all correct values of life.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The Medrash in our sedra (7:4) relates that the magnificent miracle that the “mon” was completely absorbed in their bodies was met with ridicule and those guilty of this were punished.

It is shocking that such a superb blessing could be so twisted and unappreciated. This is an enlightening lesson for us to the dangers of how in our own lives one can act with animosity and resentment towards many of Hashem’s blessings and extraordinary gifts instead of with great joy and gratitude.

This is an important part of the Shavuos celebration; appreciating the great gift of Torah.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a joyous, meaningful Chag Shavuos.

The obvious question in the parsha of Sota in our parsha 5:28 is that if the suspected woman was cleared of guilt why should she be blessed by the waters. If we delve deep into the heart and feelings of this woman the fact that she was falsely accused creates such heartache that makes her deserving of this great award. Beware—feelings are everywhere.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Rashi 5:12 explains the sequence of the parsha of the gifts one must give to the Kohanim and parshas Sota is that if one withholds his obligations of the ‘manas kehuna’ he will subsequently end up going to the Kohain because of his wife’s disloyalty.  At first, the connection of these two seems entirely out of proportion.  A person should be subject to such an ugly, terrible, tragic episode of his wife being suspected of disloyalty in such a fashion for not bringing gifts to the Kohain?

The root of the issue is to understand and appreciate what is behind the obligation to the Kohain.  It is a very serious feeling of gratitude to Hashem for what he has been blessed with.  The issue of gratitude is one of the most basic and important requirements of a human being.  To be negligent of his obligations to Hashem is violating the essence of his relationship to his Creator.  In turn, his beloved wife violates their relationship.

The ‘kaaras kesef’ which the Nesi’im brought, Rashi (7:!9) explains has the numerical value of 930 which is the same numerical value of the lifespan of Adam HaRishon.  What does this have to do with the Nesi’im?
This gift brought by the Nesi’im was an act of gratitude to Hashem for bringing Adam HaRishon into the world.  This is hakaras hatov!!

HAVE A WONDERFUL Shabbos.
