Was Yaakov Avinu such a batlan that he couldn’t deal and outsmart Lavan’s devious wicked ways; such wickedness, setting up the wrong bride. Yaakov made his hishtadlus and left the rest for the Ribbono Shel Olam and because of this we have today a Klal Yisroel. Don’t be too smart, Hashem is with us.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and hatzlach for all of Klal Yisroel.

Yaakov (22:28) set aside this stone for further crucial “use” since it was critical as a tool which brought him to the realization of the Shaar HaShomayim.  (It was upon this stone that he had the revealing dream of the significance and importance of the place).  He attributed its ability to be the tool to its intrinsic pureness.

It is critical and crucial that we likewise use appropriate tools to achieve and to connect to the pure truth.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Lavan, after showering Yaakov Avinu with ridiculous and false accusations, Yaakov, in turn, meticulously troubled himself to address all of Lavan’s absurdities and complaints.  Lavan then came forth with his rebuttal; a verbal assault completely ignoring Yaakaov Avinu’s account and report of his monetary loyalty and financial commitments.  “Habanos Bnosai v’HaBanim Banai v’chol asher atta roeh li hu”.

Lavan, in his performance, displays a particular form of wickedness, with no need even to attempt false justification and rationalization, just an open declaration of dreadful evilness.  “Habanos Bnosai v’HaBanim Banai v’chol asher atta roeh li hu”.  The Torah by revealing this episode warns us of this malice and as in all forms of evil can unfortunately infiltrate even the inner sacred Torah groups.  How sensitive we must be not to allow ourselves this type of conduct.

Hatzlacha Rabba.

Yaakov Avinu made little effort to protect himself from Lavan’s deceit.  At first glance it seems that Lavan took full advantage of this.  The episode however concludes as a complete success for Yaakov, who gained everything.   Reuven, Shimon Levi, Yehuda, Yissachar and Zevulun; the Kohanim, Leviim, Moshe Rabeinu, malchus, Moshiach Tzidkaynu, the lomdei Torah and the supporters of Torah.  Yaakov was blessed with Divine intuition to inhibit action against Lavan and to rely on Hashem’s plan, which he was unaware of.

All our lives are constantly filled with a need for this guidance which Hashem supplies through His messengers to those who comprehend and yearn for this guidance.

Have a wonderful Shabos.

Many find it difficult dealing with the phenomenon that Yaakov didn’t sleep for the 14 years that he attended the Yeshiva of Shem and attempt various interpretations.  Our whole existence is based on the promise Hashem made to Avraham that we are above the stars and no longer subjected to the conventional laws of nature with which Hashem runs the world.  Our very existence stems from women, who according to the laws of nature, were totally incapable of child-bearing.  Until this very day every facet of our existence is above “teva”.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The brown sheep that Yaakov wanted for himself and not the brown goats may be explained as follows.  Sheep we find are symbolic for Klal Yisroel.  Rashi explains that “chum” (brown) was reddish (adom).  There are characteristics Esav had that in the Divine plan were intended to be harnessed for avodas Hashem.  Because Esav misused his free will Yaakov Avinu was now given many of these characteristics to harness and use for perfection.  We must be aware that we have within us these qualities and materialistic leanings which likewise must be harnessed for avodas Hashem.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.
